House Hunting

04Jan03

I just got back from the first round of house hunting. I looked at around 6 places, and found 2 that I like. Of the two, one of them is a townhome, the other is a condo.

The townhome is very new, and in great shape. Its very open, and I’d imagine the ceilings in the dining area are around 20 feet tall since they extend to the height of the loft. It also has a very nicely sized 2 car garage which is attached. It’s a very nice little place.

The condo was gorgeous, I was very moved. It is on the second of three floors, and has big windows opening to, get this, a view of a lake! There were docks and boats right outside the building as its only 20 yards or so from the shore. The inside was beautiful ceramic tile kitchen, vaulted ceilings, and some of the biggest closets and bathrooms I’ve ever seen pre-MTV Cribs. The downside? It only has a 1 car garage which is detached.

I’m very conflicted. The first place was very nice, but the location and surroundings don’t do much for me. I could really picture in my mind how beautiful it would be if it had wood flooring on the whole bottom floor, and how much I would love having that huge garage. The condo was just amazing– I felt like I was on vacation at a beach house because of its aura as well as the amazing view and closeness to a good sized lake. The first place is a little more practical for me as far as garage space and it being a townhome with no one under or on top of me, but the condo left me with a very good feeling. The realtor liked the townhome better because of the garage and how new and clean it was.

She is supposed to fax me over some more places over the weekend, with plans on looking at some more next weekend, so I guess we?ll see what happens.
