The New booms.net Is Alive!

03Jan03

It’s official, booms.net contains content again! Its been quite some time since I’ve had a site with any content on it, perhaps 1997, and I decided that it was time to have an online presence again.

Wow, GeekBlog is finally working. While on a few needed days off of work, I came across an old blog of mine that I started sometime in 1999. It was just something for myself, but it was interesting to go back and re-read some of the things I had put down. I like to think I write pretty well, and I always like to share things with others which I learn about, so I decided to start a blog again. It was a private blog, but you might be able to find it blog depending on how good of an internet sleuth you are.

I’ve spent the last day or two updating Apache, PHP, MySQL, IP Firewall, etc, in preparation of getting it up and running. I still need to integrate the Gallery into GeekBlog, but I’ll get it done after I have a design of my own for this site.

Anyhow, I intend to write little bits about the technology and hobbies I’m interested in as time and interesting bits to pass along present themselves. Enjoy.

When we are old and these rejoicing computers
Are frosty channels to a muted network,
And out of all our burning CD’s remains
No feeblest spark to fire the CPU, even in dream,
This be our solace: that it was not said
When we were young and warm and L33T,
Upon our couch we lay as lie the dead,
Sleeping away the unreturning time spent gaming.
    O sweet, O heavy-lidded, O my love (computer),
When morning strikes her spear upon the land,
And we must rise from the desk and turn off the computer,
bittered by the insolent daylight mocking our pale flesh,
Be not discountenanced if the knowing know
We rose from rapture but an hour ago.

The smell of your keyboard is always at my fingertips my love.
