How much for that doggie in the window?

24Aug03

I’m slowly coming to the conclusion that it would be nice to have some company in the house, but I certainly do not want a real roommate. I first thought maybe a cat would be okay, but when it comes down to it, I’m just not a cat person at all after owning a couple of them when I was younger. I figure man’s best friend would be a much better choice than a cat or a roommate.

I went to Amanda’s place yesterday to hang-out and watch a couple of movies on her monster home theater, and I had such a great time playing with her dogs! I had both cats and dogs growing-up as a child, but haven’t had a pet like that since 6th grade or so. I forgot how much fun they are!

My requirements for a dog are one classified as medium or large, something that is not too hyper but still likes to play, and doesn’t shed a lot. After doing some research today, I’ve came to the conclusion that I’d like to adopt a greyhound.

They seem to be a really good option for me– they will already be trained and house broken on delivery and past their rambunctious puppy years, as well as be spayed/neutered, have all shots, etc. They are very mellow, loving dogs that like to go outside and play. Works for me!

People do keep telling me that they look funny. Well hey, I look funny and at least a couple of people out there love me.. I think!

I’ll probably buy a couple of the “adopting a greyhound” books on their site and think it over until I get back from Europe before I make a final decision about it, though.
