I was listening to one of my favorite talk shows at lunch, Ed Schultz, and he was talking about the Election for Governor of Washington state being separated by only 42 votes. In order for a recount, the Washington State Democrats are attempting to collect a $750,000 deposit which they need by today to start the recount process to cut a cashiers check tomorrow to the Washington Secretary of State. At around 1:00 PM MST, they were up to 500K, about half of that being individual contributors via the intarweb.
As for myself, I’ll be throwing them a little money once I’m done with this post. Why? Washington is a blue state, and Kerry won there– it just doesn’t make sense for a Republican Governor to take over. Not to mention this country seems to be in a strong right movement, and it’s time for moderates and liberals to stop whining and do something about it. If you would have had a chance in 2000 to donate a small amount of money for a Florida recount (provided a Senator would of actually sponsored that.. I’m still baffled by that), do you think it would have been worth it?
