Jake sent me a link to Choose The Blue, which is basically a site to help you research how big consumer-oriented companies contribute to the two big political parties. It’s good to see that Costco donates to the donkeys– I love that place! They seem to have a good moral compass as far as the way they treat their employees and suppliers, and I’ll definitely go out of my way to support a company who does so.
I also came across American Apparel as well last night. Essentially they are a US company based in downtown LA which makes clothes by hand, and actually pays their employees a wage which they can live off of. I didn’t see much I’d personally buy as far as the men’s clothes go, but they have a good selection for the ladies. Be careful if you go to their consumer store if you’re at work as they have a few models in their underwear.
