When I left my house this morning, it was very nice out and there was only a slight breeze. Once I got on Highway 36, all hell broke loose because the wind is INSANE here. All kinds of trucks and other high profile vehicles were pulled over looking like they were going to blow over, sand and rocks were swirling around in the air, and tumbleweeds were blowing around everywhere. Check out this article to see what I’m talking about. For general idea of what it’s like here, I work almost due South of Louisville where a 90 MPH gust of wind was recorded.
Once I finally made it work, I witnessed a good sized guy with a briefcase just about get blown over. I finally had to brace myself and walk inside. I forgot my cell phone and access card in the car, and there was no way I was going to make it back to my car since I was carrying a couple of things and I’d be sort of walking against the wind, so I just had to leave it there.
Growing up on the plains I’ve been in some bad wind/dirt storms, but nothing like this…
