Franz Ferdinand

I’m currently taking a history class, Europe after 1914, as one of the few remaining general education credits which are required for my degree. I’ve never necessarily been that great at memorizing facts and figures, but since most of my history classes in the past have only consisted of the Christopher Columbus-The Civil War period for US History, this is a nice change of pace. Then again, Regis takes the approach of letting you show you grasp the material by reflecting on it in papers and discussion, rather than being sticklers about dates, places, and busy work which I’m thankful for. Working on a Computer Science degree at a liberal arts college certainly lends itself to interesting combinations.

I’m also glad I still have a few classes like this to take to break-up the various Computer Science classes. I think taking more than one programming language class per semester would be a bit of overload for me. Like taking Assembly and then C; that would make my brain hurt (I’m much more of an OOP than a functional programmer).

Anyhow, it’s a good thing I’ve been slowly plugging away at the degree all these years– I’m writing a paper about Franz Ferdinand while listening to, you guessed it, Franz Ferdinand. Good stuff!
