So yesterday as I was leaving to go watch The Aviator (great movie by the way) with a friend at a bit after 3 PM, I took my usual route out of my neighborhood, and there was a crazy amount of activity at the park where I usually walk Audrey. Tons of cops were there, yellow tape was around, and news crews from the 3 major networks in town were there. I pretty much assumed it was a drowning or shooting and went on my way.
Apparently I was right about the drowning incident. News coverage at 9News, 7News, and The Denver Post. I actually “know’”the guy who rescued that kid, but only because I recognize the dog. I always wondered if some kid was going to drown in the water there because I’ve seen some pretty young kids hanging-out there without any supervision.. I suppose it was just a matter of time.
This area is on the news somewhat frequently actually for being a fairly sleepy neighborhood; I think this is the third time this (well last) year. The other two times were related to a fatal DUI accident (which I just missed.. I drove by it as the ambulance was pulling-up), and some sort of car jacking during a police pursuit. Good stuff.
