I randomly came across a sort of pseudo-blog titled “Diary Of a Swift Driver” which is basically a journal for someone who basically started fresh in the trucking industry. It only spans for his period of employment at Swift, but I found it to be very interesting. He even did a break down of how much he paid, what they were told vs. what reality was, etc. Very interesting stuff. If anything, it was cool to read about all of the various CB codes.
If you don’t have a good 20-30 minutes to kill to read the whole thing, I’d suggest at least reading the summary article which the guy wrote, titled “A Truckers Life“. I guess I do have a small obsession with them after wanting to be a truck driver as a kid, growing-up in a rural area, doing a lot of road trips as a kid, etc., so it was an interesting read for me. It’s a good thing I stuck with theah compeeters!
