This Fire is Out of Control

I just got back from seeing Pretty Girls Make Graves and everyone’s favorite Scottish Archduke’s– Franz Ferdinand. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve been to a rock show (I’ve mostly been to a lot of “underground” hip-hop shows in the past few years), and Franz puts on a great one! They played quite a few tracks from their new album, and for the most part I thought they were pretty good. They definately have a lot of energy and seem to enjoy themselves. One of the cooler things during the show was towards the end when they had 3 different people playing the drum set at the same time.

I have one or two Pretty Girls Make Graves discs but I can’t say I’ve listened to them all that much. In concert I didn’t really get into them that much until they started playing songs from an upcoming album. They had one song with an accordion which was pretty sweet though..

Before the aforementioned concert, I came home before heading to the show to let Audrey outside, and there was a 7 News helicopter hovering above the hood for a good 15 minutes while I was home. As I was leaving the neighborhood, I saw a Fox 31 news van heading into the hood as well. I guess I should of recorded the news, but apparently some kid tried to kill his dad by locking him inside a house and starting it on fire.

And… that’s not all!

Yesterday evening I was walking Audrey at the park (the same one that a kid almost drowned at about a year ago) when a couple of people came speeding through on bikes. Instinctively I thought about tackling at least one of them because they being jackasses (riding at least 15 MPH on a sidewalk). Really, it was more for the reason that something didn’t seem right about them as they didn’t look like the type to be riding bikes anyway. In otherwords, I had the feeling they were stolen.

A few minutes later a car came screeching into a driveway near the park with a couple of kids inside with some guy yelling about “which way did they go?”, and next thing I know several cars were leaving in the direction that the people on the bikes were going. I hope the thieves got their ass kicked… those kids were young, and I’m sure they basically forced them to give them their bikes. Apparently I need to start packing heat when I’m out with the dog because it’s not the first time I’ve been around a theft in progress.
