I was just checking-up on an old hobby of mine and saw that John Shepard has went down into the 7 second range in the 1/4 mile. This is absolutely insane, especially considering it’s just 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine, the car is still registered and insured to be driven on the street, has a full interior, stock frame, etc. From past experience I would guesstimate he’s pushing anywhere from 900 to 1100 HP out of that little 4 banger. 2 Liters is not even half the displacement of your typical smallblock V8.
To give you an idea about how fast this is, I have never heard of anything faster which is still able to be driven on the street, and in fact this car would make most “trailer queens” at the track look silly. A 10 second street car is rare, 9 second track only “door slammer” at an amateur level is almost unheard of, and by comparison 7 seconds just insane by someone without any major sponsorship, etc, much less it being still able to drive on the street.
