Animal Planet Dog Breed Selector

10Jul06

A friend pointed me to the Animal Planet Dog Breed Selector and of course I had to check it out to see what my ideal match is according to them. Given how much Audrey has been whining this weekend since it’s been too rainy to get her much exercise, I wondered if there were a breed which would annoy me less. Turns-out I’m going to have to keep her as Greyhounds were a 100% match for me. Some of my other interesting matches include the American Fox Hound at 98%, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever at 98%, and the Curly-Coated Retriever at 98%.

What breed(s) are your ideal match?

    Pembroke Welsh Corgi 99%
    Sussex Spaniel 99%
    American Water Spaniel 98%
    Cardigan Welsh Corgi 98%
    Dalmatian 98%
    Welsh Springer Spaniel 98%
    Whippet 98%
    Finnish Spitz 97%

Can you tell I prefer small to medium dogs? I was squeeing at the Corgis, which all look like Ein from Cowboy Bebop to me. Heh.

    Other interesting ones:
Beagle 96% – my grandmother had a beagle when I was very little.
Wire Fox Terrier 93% – the breed I grew up around; my parents have two now.
Lakeland Terrier 91% – my family had one when I was in my early teens.
Pomeranian 91% – they annoy the p00p out of me.
Poodle (Toy) 90% – a former boyfriend’s family had three of them and I loved the bejeebers out of them.

The Doberman was pretty high-up there for me too, which doesn’t surprise me considering it’s part Greyhound.

I also had a 98% match for the Whippet. A lot of people mistake Audrey for one since she’s about 10 lbs less than the bottom of the “normal” weight for a female Greyhound.

I can’t say I’m big on the Beagle’s– way too noisy (even though I know Sean will eventually stop by and tell me they are cool) :)
